Yerba Buena by Nina Lacour
Literary Fiction, Romance-ish, LGBT
This had been on my TBR for quite a while, so I was happy to finally get to it! It was a fairly quick read. It follows two women and their paths to each other starting from their teen years. It’s a little slow burn-y, and also just a little slow. I did find myself to be a bit bored but not enough to make me stop reading. I wouldn’t really call it a romance tbh, it is there but it’s not really the main focus. It deals with some heavy topics so check trigger warnings!

Rouge by Mona Awad
Fiction, Gothic, Thriller, Fantasy
Okayyyyyy as soon as I heard this book was like a dark Snow White I was immediately intrigued. I haven’t read Awad’s previous books so I can’t compare to her earlier writing but if it is like this, let me go order all her works right now!
I loveddddddddd this book. I thought it was such a fun read. It is marketed as horror, but I would say more thriller/mystery than horror. The blurb says it’s a cross between Snow White and Eyes Wide Shut. I actually had never watched Eyes Wide Shut so about 50-ish pages in when that movie was actually mentioned in the text I paused and went to go watch it. Let me tell you what a fantastic idea that was, after watching the movie the book was just more enhanced and the vibes were just perfect.
I would definitely recommend this to all my skincare loving girlies.

Foxglove by Adalyn Grace
Fantasy, Young Adult, Historial Romance, Regency Era
The sequel to Belladonna finally came out this month! I had this pre-ordered since January! The first book was amazing, and this one was a great follow-up. I can’t really say how I wished it went without spoiling it, but knowing there is a third novel coming out next year makes sense (it is probably going to focus on what I thought this one would have focused on). Wow what a terrible review this was. Just know I enjoyed it, similar to the first one and maybe even a bit funnier.

Either/Or by Elif Batuman
Literary Fiction, Coming of Age
Firstly, I had no idea this was a sequel to The Idiot. I feel like an idiot not even realizing that, I almost read this one first! So we are back to hanging out with Selin but now we are in her sophomore year at Harvard. You can tell she has really grown since her freshman year and it was fun seeing what she got into this time around. My only issue with this novel is how much other literary work the author brings up. Granted she brings up mostly classics, which in theory you probably would have already read, but I haven’t so I felt like a lot of things were going over my head. This was also my issue in the first book. It didn’t ruin the book for me though, I still enjoyed it and thought the sequel was even funnier than the first!
